Meredith and Sam’s story began where most great romantic stories begin: a training room at an accounting firm. That was where Sam first laid eyes on Meredith - that stone cold beauty. It wasn’t clear to either of them that day that their lives would be forever intertwined.

Brought together by late nights of work, softball in Central Park, and client meetings in Miami, Sam and Meredith’s bond developed slowly. It wasn’t until Meredith got her first hit in Softball (lifetime average of .080 not too bad) that a celebration was in store. This led to their first kiss at a classic Irish pub in NYC.

Within a few months, Sam and Meredith lived down the street from each other in two NYC walk ups. Their time together became more frequent, extending beyond work hours until they realized they’d been dating for a few months already and it was time to make things official.

For the next few years, they grew up together in NYC enjoying trivia nights, sports games and late night pizza, while chasing the occasional monster cockroach. But their careers took them in different directions: Sam to Philadelphia and Meredith to Durham, NC and later Chicago. They remained in touch sporadically over the years, connected by dormant love but living two separate lives with no intersection.

Fate had other plans. A trip to a Wisconsin football game resulted in a pit stop in Chicago where Sam and Meredith caught up on the years gone by over sushi and sake. They reminisced and pondered what could have been before they realized that dormant love may not be so dormant anymore.

Both acknowledged long distance was untenable during Version 1.0 so the only way it would work would be if they lived in the same city. It took Sam but a moment’s hesitation before he agreed he’d pack up his life and move to Chicago.

From there things moved fast: living together, traveling the world, and rekindling the love that truly never left. And one April day, surrounded by Meredith’s friends and family, Sam dropped to one knee and proclaimed “How about we make Version 2.0 the Final Version?”
